effie bowen is an artist making psychologically driven scenes that confront the tensions between gender, erotics, obedience, and consumerism. 

effie’s career began in dance and they have performed professionally for over a decade, most recently touring Narcissister’s evening length work, Voyage into Infinity.

Since earning an MFA in Sculpture + Extended Media from Virginia Commonwealth University, effie’s sculptures and performances have been presented at A.I.R. Gallery, Salma Sarriedine, Harlem House, Bass + Reiner, High-Tide, and The Institute for Contemporary Art at VCU.
